They kept telling him that he didn't take things seriously. At least all the adults did, anyway, and Remus. He did though! He knew that shit like a career and the war were important, it was affecting everyone at Hogwarts in different degrees, and being a Black meant that he felt that twice as much as normal people.

He should be a Death Eater in training, like he knew his brother Regulus was, for all the attempts he'd made to try and get him to understand where he was coming from.

But it was no use, really. What everyone else expected of him, for him to go off and find a nice husband (and be a Death Eater's wife if he were on the other side of things), wasn't what he wanted. He'd never been normal, he knew that. Not even when he'd found family in the Potters.

They knew who he was, James especially, but they didn't mention it. Not when you could get killed for it. And he couldn't exactly disappear one day and just show up as if he was someone else again. Life wasn't that easy. There wasn't a magic button that changed your genitals to what you wanted or changed your identity in society to what fit you.

As far as anyone was concerned, Sirius Black didn't exist.

Sirena Black, on the other hand, did.

And as much as Sirius didn't want to go by that name or be known as that, he had to tough it out, until he was of legal age. He was already financially capable of paying for the ridiculous potions and hire someone to do the spells but no one was going to do it to someone underage. Especially not when they could be arrested for doing it at all.

He was however, glad that he didn't have to depend on James financially too, because his uncle Arcturus had left him a chunk of gold that was his permanently. He could only access a certain amount of it however until he turned 17 in a few months.

“Remus, can you please stop reading for five seconds?” Sirius repeated for the fifteenth time. They were supposed to be outside, considering it wasn't dinner yet, and they still had another hour and a half until Remus would be leaving for Arithmancy. Sirius didn't have so many classes such as that, although he did take CoMC and Ancient Runes as electives the year before. He'd not bothered this year, way more interested in having free time, considering he had to focus on NEWTS.

The werewolf just raised an eyebrow at him, looking up from his book.

“How about you just go alone, Siri?”

Sirius made a face at the thought but after a moment he saw some Slytherins coming into the Great Hall and got up.

“Fine,” he said, sighing dramatically. “If I have to find some fun on my own time, I will. You'd think I wouldn't have to beg for company. Just 'cause James is off with Lily now, you're going to make a habit of leaving me on my own, aren't you? Gonna marry your books, I know it. Everyone's gonna pair off, Peter'll get lucky in no time.”

Remus snorted, clearly not humoring his dramatics, and Sirius huffed before sliding out of the bench and swinging his bag over his shoulder.

He figured he'd go up to the Gryffindor tower and get his broom for a ride. James might not be interested in anything but getting nooky, but he wasn't interested in making time with any boys around Hogwarts-which right now was his only option. The only guy he'd ever go for was James or Remus, but the latter was his brother, and Remus was..well Remus. That was never going to happen. He didn't even know that how he felt yet, because Sirius was a coward about saying so.

And if maybe he sometimes got girls to pay attention to him, well, that was a secret between him and his partners. Any rumors within Hogwarts tended to be quietly misdirected to the war now anyway.

Sirius waved at his friend one last time, moving over to the doors of the Great Hall, and sending a brief glare to Snape when he saw him sitting down next to Malfoy and his group of friends. He sidestepped the group of Slytherin girls walking behind them as well, raising an eyebrow at a pretty blond he knew only vaguely, considering he didn't really pay attention to the snakes and their lot as he passed.

Remus had a million things to do. Tests to study for, papers to write, notes to take... And Sirena to babysit, evidently. Even though he'd said earlier that he would go out to the lake with her, that had been before he'd been assigned a double essay in Potions. Now he'd quite possibly have to halfass the extra credit homework for History and Merlin knew what that would do to his grades. He was going to get kicked out of Hogwarts far before they ever got to NEWTS. Free time was not something that was particularly an option.

So of course he was a little more interested in studying and not drowning even further in homework than in fooling around with his friends. Even if Sirena was one of his best mates. Besides, they were all... well, he'd say responsible almost-adults, but neither of those words described her except in the broadest of terms. He still didn't have the time, patience, or crayons to show her how to behave unless it was summer. During school he tended to be stressed and that was even without exams and extra homework. And he'd also managed to make Snape mad at him again...

Going along with Sirena would just give her an excuse to misbehave. An audience, if you would. Not exactly a captive one, unless you counted being dragged around where you didn't want to go, but Remus really needed to catch up. Whenever he went somewhere with her, it seemed like he fell farther behind. Though it really was quite a lot of fun in all honesty. They got on well and it was a little easier to relax when Sirena was screwing around and making him laugh.

Evidently Sirena believed she was destined to die alone or something, from the way she was carrying on. Remus firmly ignored her, even though it was fairly tempting to just stick a sock in her mouth. Speaking of marrying his books, though, he had that paper on muggle-wizard relationships in the fourteenth century that he wanted to rewrite after getting back the teacher's feedback on the one before it.

Once he was finally left alone to peace and quiet, however, it was harder to focus than ever. He did have to get everything done by tonight, though, so he managed to go ahead and get at least a couple things done before bolting for Arithmancy, barely making it on time. And by 'on time' he meant 'five minutes early'. Class passed quickly, and since he sat on the back and had read up on the lesson plans for the next week, he managed to half pay attention and half outline a paper he had due in another class.

Guilty though he felt for splitting his attention, it did cut about half an hour off his studying time, which was half an hour he didn't have to put into it later, strictly speaking. So once he'd finished a few other projects and delegated a few to non-urgent status, he decided to go in search of Sirena and see what horrendous trouble she'd managed to get into while he was being responsible. It wouldn't be that hard to find her, really. Just go wherever the center of attention was and it was physically impossible for Sirena to be far away, whether she was about to snag the spotlight or just tossing peanuts.

Of course, she was hanging around with a bunch of other people. Remus had, of course, his bookbag with him, so he just pulled out some homework he wasn't days ahead in and started to work on it. He could listen to her being a brat and double-check his Herbology answers at the same time. She seemed happy with herself, which she generally did. And he knew as long as she was getting attention from other people, she would have no reason to come over and pester him. Not that reason generally had much to do with it, to be honest.

Eventually Sirena either figured out he was there or decided that she needed to get payback for being abandoned earlier (definitely her words instead of Remus's). He raised an eyebrow as he felt her attention shift toward him, not bothering to look up from his book. No doubt this was about to get highly annoying, but he had in fact chosen to make a rare vampiric appearance in the Outdoor World so no doubt Sirena felt herself totally and completely justified. They differed in opinion there.

Knowing there was no use in waiting for his friend, what with him having class, Sirius just spent a good chunk of the time on the Quidditch field. Usually he'd be playing a game with James, but that was obviously not in the cards today. Eventually he was recruited into one of the quaffle games that the Ravenclaws were playing on the other end of the pitch. He wasn't really friends with them, with anyone except the Marauders and Lily, but he didn't shy away from talking to anyone who wasn't Dark or Slytherin.

James was a Chaser on the Gryffindor Quidditch team, and whilst Sirius was a decent flyer himself, he didn't really care to be part of a team. He liked watching games more than playing in them. Quick games like this though were fun.

About an hour later, he was exhausted. Shutting down the offer by the Mclaggen guy from Ravenclaw to "hang out", he didn't bother to go the Quidditch showers, and just flagged down the group of Hufflepuffs sitting at the steps of the school entrance.

It wasn't long before the group grew since tons of people headed out of their classes and to get ready for dinner soon. Sirius noticed when Remus crept into the group, quiet as ever, but didn't say anything right away since someone was talking.

"What about Jeremy? Aren't you going to ask him out?" A blond girl with a Hufflepuff sweater vest made a face at the boy standing next to Sirius.

"Ew. No. He needs a tooth correction potion. I'm surprised his parents haven't given it to him. Such a shame," she murmured. Sirius yawned a little into his hand and slipped away as another topic came up. Without hesitation, he draped himself over his friend.

"Hey, Moony. Done with being a nerd, yet?" He shook a few bristles from his broom and nodded to the entrance doors. "Common room? I'm beat."

The fact that Sirena didn't immediately pounce on him meant that he would probably have to deal with an unusual amount of clinginess later. Well, Remus kept dealing with her being annoying, so that said a lot about him as well. And James and Peter. Sirena pestered the hell out of all of them. Some things never changed.

He didn't pay much attention to the gossiping. Sirena would screech for him if she thought it absolutely necessary that he heard something. Or she would tell him a million times while they were hanging out later. Which, who were they kidding, she might do both. Remus had definitely hung out around him enough to know which one was likely. It seemed like she existed to screw with him sometimes. But he encouraged it...

And then the horribly unthinkable happened. "Not just yet," he answered, rolling his eyes. "I still have three papers to write by tomorrow and there's still an Astronomy chart to fill out. I know you haven't done that last one either, you've been been late with half your assignments all year." Well, he hadn't meant to turn into a teacher. But it was true. Sirena was late or on time with her homework. Never early, ever. It drove Remus insane.

When she said she was tired, Remus snorted under his breath. "And if James popped out of the bushes wanting for you two to murder each other on the Quidditch pitch?" Remus was not inclined toward sports. He had the strength for it but he just found academics so much more interesting.

"How was your flying?" That was probably enough to get her totally distracted. She could ramble on about flying and Quidditch all day long. And it didn't matter to her at all if her friend was listening or not. Usually he wasn't, either, but she liked to talk, so it all worked out. Just about everything he'd learned about Quidditich came from Sirius, the rest came from James.

"You want to stop in the kitchen so you have something to snack on while you help me study?" He was sure the answer would change from a 'hell yeah' to an 'oh my god no'. Even though Sirena was always ready to eat something, or so it seemed, she also evidently had a pathological fear of studying.

It was great. Remus loved being able to mess around with her. And it ended up with him getting food too, which was always a bonus. He very rarely turned down a chance to eat but somehow he remained practically underweight. Lily was constantly trying to feed him more but nothing seemed to take.

Considering he'd grown up close to Regulus, it was only natural that he was prone to clingyness. He needed someone to pay attention to him, used to at least a few eyes in every room, following him everywhere. Regulus had looked up to him, for so long, that he craved it. Of course, now he had all of Hogwarts eyes on him, all the time. And he was no longer the oldest (female) Black aside from his cousins. Regulus was set to be the Black heir and he was burned off the family tree in all but name. But they didn't really know him, not like his friends did.

Remus and Peter might not know how he truly felt, like James did, but they certainly had no qualms about how he was otherwise. As far as Sirius was concerned, they knew him for who he really was, out of anyone.

Sirius scoffed at his friend's lecturing tone. "Who cares about homework? All I have to do is pass my NEWTs," he pointed out, eyebrow raised. "And I have those in the bag." He needed to do some more studying for History of Magic, but that was because Binns was ridiculous and shouldn't be allowed to teach flubberworms, nevermind students. It wasn't like he was ever going to use History of Magic in Auror Training, anyway (not that that meant he was going to fail it).

"Whatever." Sirius rolled their eyes, because what Remus said was true. James had been hanging around Lily more than ever, though, and he sort of missed their time together. Not that James was AWOL-they certainly spent some time together-but he was hellbent on trying to get Lily infatuated enough to marry him right out of Hogwarts and it meant he didn't nearly spend as much time with his friends as he could.

The question did seem to but a little more bounce in his attitude, though. "It went great. Beat some of the Ravenclaws at Quafflethrow." He was by no means the best of the lot but if he really put his mind on it he probably could have made a fair Chaser. That said, he mostly liked the part of Quidditch or any broom game, where he simply flew. Not that he didn't get competitive once you got him started. "Dredre almost severed Quincy's arm, I swear. He's a fine Beater, s'too bad he's graduating next year."

The next question made Sirius make a face. "Aww come on. Don't you wanna go to the Great Hall? James might be there," he pointed out, though it was unlikely. Lily was just as interested in her studies as Remus was, so they were probably off in the library. "You're so boring. I think James left you-know-what in his trunk. We could find some place to study other than the library, at least? Pleeeeease?" He gave his friend a puppy eyed look, which was not nearly as ironic because Remus didn't know what name he'd chosen for himself yet. Maybe one day.

"You need to do your homework so you know everything you need to know to pass your NEWTs." Remus knew that Sirena was smart as hell, but that didn't mean she would pass all her tests. Plenty of smart people were slackers. And Remus knew he tended to overcompensate but at least he did his best.

He smiled a little when Sirena shrugged off what he said about James. Yup, if their friend somehow managed to get away from Lily, flying was probably exactly what he would want to do. And Remus couldn't blame him. Even if he preferred to keep his feet on the ground, whether there were two or four of them, he didn't mind the occasional joyride. Sirius had tried to coerce him into taking James' place but he had been firm on not doing so under any circumstances. He didn't fly nearly as well as his friend did.

"Of course you won," he agreed. Because, seriously, when did she not? Sirena was a brilliant flyer. And crazy and insane and everything else that contributed to Remus' desire to not fly against her. Who knows who would break a limb first. He made a little bit of a face when the Beater was mentioned, not finding the prospect of that appealing. "How lovely."

"Clearly James is going to be parted from his girlfriend just to hang out with us in the Great Hall," Remus agreed sarcastically. That was probably something that was not going to happen. And oh god, there was absolutely no way he would ever get any kind of studying done if the went there! Far too many people to keep him from focusing on his studies.

"I'm not boring, I'm responsible and I'm making sure I can get a job after school." Not everybody could fuck around on their parents' money. Some of them had to work. And while some of the Slytherins took pride in naming which side of the fence they were on, Remus had never bothered with making a distinction.

Giving an exasperated sigh, he glanced up at Sirena and immediately regretted it. "No," he insisted, returning his gaze to his paper. And he even marked off a few more things before shutting his book. "Fine, let's go." Sirena knew he was rarely able to resist that look unless he had something he seriously needed to catch up on immediately.

"No point in doing it so I have to turn it in early though," he said with a huff. "It isn't like I'm graded on tardiness. No matter what McGonagall says." He'd seen his grades before. There was nothing wrong with his scores. He just lost house points. And when had he ever been afraid of losing house points??

Despite his family issues, Sirius had nothing to worry about when it came to money. Sure, he wasn't nearly as rich as he would be if he married whoever his parents wanted him to marry (probably Lucius Malfoy-the ugly burk) but his Uncle Alphard had left him with a considerable chunk of money that he could live off of easily if he was a bit modest.

And as far as he was concerned, his money was Remus', just as James' was. "You'll be fine. As if I'm letting you starve because you don't find a job right away." He rolled his eyes. They hadn't really talked about what would actually happen after school though. James was trying to get Lily to move in with him and presumably the three of the other Marauders would simply find their own place.

Sirius wasn't sure if Remus was think it were proper or not, but he'd been thinking maybe being roommates would be rad. He'd snuck into the boy's dorms enough in the last few years that they were used to having a "girl" around at all hours. And truth be told, Sirius wasn't sure he liked the idea of living on his own. It sounded absolutely lonely and boring.

Remus' initial refusal just made Sirius dig his heels in further. He pouted, blue eyes widening exaggeratedly. "Pleeease, Moony." Smiling brightly when the other Marauder gave in, he grabbed his friend's shoulder and hauled him up. "Come on!"

"I didn't think you even knew what 'turn it in early' meant, Sirena. I'm so proud." Remus tended to take everything a bit too seriously but at least that balanced out his friend not caring enough. Because, honestly, you were graded on tardiness! And accuracy and a hundred other things that made him worry. James teased him about getting premature grey hairs but Remus wasn't sure that was too far from the truth.

"Of course you're not letting me starve. But I can't be a freeloader forever." Even if he financially could, he wouldn't feel right about it all. He would definitely chill for a good long time if he inherited money or married someone rich, but he wouldn't rely on his friends like that. And he wasn't about to meet anyone with that kind of money who would marry him. Werewolf problem aside, there was still quite a lot that made him a less than desirable partner for someone. And there wasn't exactly a werewolf dating circular that he could subscribe to.

He wouldn't mind living with Peter and Sirena, though. All of them pretty much did that now anyways. Sure, it would mean not leaving the bathroom door open all the time, but things could be worse. He could have had to room with a stranger. But he wasn't about to ask for anything for himself. That just couldn't happen, of course not. Heavens forbid that Remus Lupin asked for something for himself even if he needed it.

Even though he told himself that the pouty look had no effect, it did. And Sirena knew it did. "All right, all right, hold on." He planted his feet and stopped until he could get his papers and book back in his bag before sighing and letting his friend drag him off. It was more than tempting to stick his quill in her hair but she would probably just fix it so it looked good. Instead he stuck it in the pocket of his robe where it was less likely to get broken. "Where do you want to go?"

Honestly, Sirius wasn't sure why Remus was so caught up in school. It wasn't like anything in life needed that much studying. Teachers just exaggerated everything.

"People think you're the nice one of us, you know," he remarked at his comment. "Can't imagine why, with that attitude." He poked his friend's sternum, hiking his broom over his shoulder.

"You wouldn't be a free loader," Sirius insisted, a little bit offended on his behalf. "It's what friends do. Plus, I fully expect you to do all the chores until we can afford a house elf. I'm not, that's for sure." He was by far the more dressed up out of all of them-cared most about his appearance-but when it came to cleaning? Yeah, no. He'd grown up with a house elf just like James. There were some things he didn't care to do. And Remus absolutely deserved being called a house elf replacement for his earlier joke.

The familiar walk towards their Common Room, meant Sirius barely thought about his next steps. He just glanced at Remus as they headed up the stairs. "How about where the Grey Lady hangs out? I still think we're missing a room in the tower. Wanna find out before we're booted out of here."

Plenty of things needed studying. Like homework, and tests, and homework, and tests. Remus knew that most of this stuff wouldn't matter after school, but he also knew he needed to make good grade so he'd look better for job applications. If the werewolf thing ever came up.... Well, none of it would matter, but until then, he knew he would be a good candidate on paper.

"Nice one?" That made no sense. Why would anyone think that about him? Remus didn't have anything to recommend himself to anyone, which was part of the reason he had to work so hard at things. Make people want to be around him because he could offer something they found valuable.

He snorted at the comparison to a house elf. "I think I have enough problems with people considering me a lower-class creature." Very very few knew about him being a werewolf but still. Remus joked about it but was occasionally serious. This wasn't one of those times, though. He and Sirena always joked around about everything, though. Realistically, though, he would be the only one doing the chores.

"We would have found a missing room by now," Remus pointed out. And he was ninety percent sure that they had found everything in the castle. If Sirena wanted to go haring off in search of something they wouldn't find, though, then sure. He would hang around and help him out with it. Not much persuasion would be necessary quite honestly.

As far as Sirius was concerned, he would simply make the effort he needed to when it came to his NEWTs, and hope to find a job that way. He'd toyed with the idea of being an Auror but that fizzled quickly. There were way too many rules and honestly it wasn't for him. Of course, he also really didn't know what he wanted to do. Especially not with the war looming overhead. He was well aware that they may never really get much of a chance to do anything, if Voldemort wasn't stopped.

"If you listen to others, yeah?" He gave him a doubtful look, because it was clearly obvious that everyone assumed he was the nice one in the group. How did Remus not notice? Peter was too awkward to be seen as "nice" necessarily and Remus was usually polite to everyone; even Snivellus.

Sirius chuckled at his comment, running up the steps ahead of him, and not being careful to not smack him in the side with his broom. "Nerds are lower class," he informed him with a haughty look, throwing his hair over his shoulder as they came onto a landing and waited for the stairs to stop moving. He didn't even bother to acknowledge what he truly meant.

The fact that they had scrounged through the entire castle by now wasn't lost on him. They had found a lot of things they were sure even the professors didn't know about. But that didn't mean that Sirius didn't want to find more. "If we don't find anything, then we can just go to the Room of Requirement." That was always fun.

Remus returned the doubtful look, genuinely not having realised that people seemed to like him. "But why?" Sure, he was nice to everyone, to the point where some people had mistook him for a Hufflepuff. He just didn't see the point in being rude to people when they could do something potentially much harsher in retaliation.

"Prima donnas are lower class," Remus corrected him. "Nerds shall inherit the earth." If they ever got their noses out of books long enough to do so. Should it come down to conquering the world or living in a library, the choice was clear. No doubt Sirena would be just fine with the potential to ride off into the sunset but Remus was a much quieter person.

"Shall we just skip to the Room of Requirement?" he asked with a grin. He knew they wouldn't find anything, or at least highly doubted it, but that place always interested him. There were always lots of books, for one thing. And enough crap for Sirena to get into and possibly destroy or borrow. Eventually he always dragged Remus into it too, but that was another matter entirely.

Sirius shrugged, not about to answer that seriously. "Maybe it's the hair? I don't know. Ask Lily, she might be able to tell you. I don't listen to gossip," he reminded him. He usually ignored and thought himself above it to be honest. He was nothing like the other girls in their year. Then again, James was more of a girl, if that defined gender.

Raising an eyebrow, he jumped up on the staircases and followed the way to the seventh floor. "I'll tell James you're talking about him behind his back, you watch," he said, smiling. Because yeah, he was totally a Prima Donna, but James was second out of the four of them.

"No!" He huffed at his friend's doubt. "I just want to check behind that portrait of the Grey Lady, alright? Then we can go. We always spend hours in there anyway, we might as well pass by the tower on the way down, first." It was likely they wouldn't find anything new, which was fine, but Sirius was kind of disappointed there wasn't more.

Remus patted the top of his head a little, trying to figure out what it was about his hair that might attract people to him. Huh. It was genuinely surprising that anyone outside of the Marauders liked him, but he kind of liked the thought of that. He knew that everyone seemed to think he needed more friends. Well, he didn't, but evidently majority rules.

"Lily would be the one I'd be scared of," Remus admitted. She was intimidating. And James was just his mate. They'd all been through too much together for Remus to even imagine James screwing with him. That was just... not something he saw his friend doing? James was a good person even if he did have an asshole streak.

"All right, the portrait it is," he agreed. He followed along behind him, double-checking the contents of his satchel on the way. Seemed like he would have to find a couple extra books about the history of giants, if he was really going to get an accurate list of sources about that paper he owed. Extra credit paper, sure, but that wasn't the point.

"Fair point," he replied. The other Gryffindor was scary when angry. She certainly lived up to her reputation as a redhead that was for sure. She was wickedly smart, too, which just made being on her bad side even worse. Sirius had never been stupid enough to prank her after he saw her bat boogey hex in first year.

Sirius smiled at his agreement. "Great. You get the map, yeah?" He knew how to get into the boy's bathroom, which technically wasn't allowed, but Sirius was pretty sure he'd see far worse things in the girl's room where Moaning Myrtle was at.

He followed Remus up to the boys dorm, ignoring the clutter, and dropping his broom next to James' by his bed. "I'll be back." He ducked into the bathroom, taking off his extra robes, and plucking at the worn pants he wore. Technically, they were James's old pair, which just managed to fit his hips with his mother's hemming charm. He could not wait till he had more spending money when he turned 17.

He was also not formally supposed to be wearing them but rules schmules. Plus, it wasn't really not allowed perse. The uniform rules stated either skirts or pants but didn't specifically say girls or boys. Whether or not it was proper, well, Sirius couldn't care any leaa.

After using the bathroom, a quick face wash and freshening spell (and OK he took a few minutes in front of the mirror, so what?), he came back over to the dorm. Just leaving the outer robes on James' bed, Sirius holstered his wand.

"Ready?"

"Yeah, sure." They both knew where it was, but they also knew that Sirena would need forever to be ready. Well, that was an overstatement, but seriously. She could get herself all ready before she dragged Remus away from his homework. That was just rude.

Sorting through all the trash in James' chest wasn't the easiest, but he found the map in a minute. Then he sat down on James' bed, cross-legged, and took his paper back out. Chances were Sirena would get distracted with something and he would be able to get a little bit more done by the time she returned.

He didn't look up when the door opened again, just taking a sniff and recognising her scent immediately. "Yes. Or do you want to spend a couple more minutes wooing the mirror?" He started putting his things back in his bag anyway, since he knew Sirena would probably try to drag him out the door even if they were going to get sidetracked in a few seconds.

Sirius rolled his eyes at his friend. "Don't need to woo anyone, when I've already got the attention," he pointed out knowingly. More than half the school wanted him. Of course, they also thought he was a girl, so it wasn't like he had any interest in them. The girls were easy to explain away, because he did want to know if he liked girls just as much as boys, but it wasn't like he would be marrying any of them anyway. He didn't think he could fall in love with a girl unless there were more butch than he was.

"Hurry uuup," he whined, hauling his friend's arm once he got up. He did indeed drag him over to the Ravenclaw Tower, barely sparring a glance at the rest of the Gryffindors in the common room as they headed out of the portrait hole once again. He leaned into Remus to check the map out. "Where's Prongs at then? He macking it with Evans in the library?" He searched for his friends dot and snorted when he found it in an abandoned wing, the two dots of James and Lily meshed together, and almost illegible. "There they go. Can imagine what their faces'll look like if McGonagall catches them at it." He chuckled.

"So you'd turn down extra attention if it was offered?" The answer to that would be a resounding negative and they both knew it. Sirena was an attention whore, though Remus would phrase it more politely if he were around non-Marauders. And heavens forbid anyone outside of their little group ever refer to her as such. While they'd insult each other all day long, nobody else was allowed to do so under any conditions.

"I'm not hurrying anywhere," he insisted, not that it mattered. It wasn't like he was heavy enough to stop Sirena from dragging him all over the school if she wanted to. He was strong, sure, but unless he put effort into it, Sirena would win out. And they never really fought or anything, so he'd never really tried.

"Where else would James be?" Remus hadn't checked yet, but opened the map and, of course, found the two of them together. At Sirena's comment, he snorted, and looked for any staff dots near the two. Nothing, unfortunately, or else he would have definitely suggested that they go and watch the two getting caught and embarrassed. At the moment, though, their mission was evidently going to stay the same. Sirena would probably be bouncing in place any second now.

Sirius didn't bother to reply to that, giving him a flat look. Of course not. He was well aware of his own reputation, not that he wanted to change for appearances' sake (well not everything anyway). He rather liked the attention, if only to make up for the bad attention he got a lot of.

He ignored the comment, just hauling his friend, and eventually tugged the map a little more towards himself once they were going down the stairs. "Oh I know James can live under her skirt," he said, unashamedly. "But it's dinner time, for fucksake." He jumped off the last three ledges though, certainly excited, as Remus thought. Speaking of..

He snapped his fingers once they made it to the 6th floor landing and headed for the tower. A small, wrinkly house popped up in front of them.

"Yes, Mister Black? You need Piffy?"

Sirius patted the things head as he passed it. "Don't wanna go all the way to the kitchens. Mind gathering up some dinner for us? Cola for me," told it. He loved that they managed to cater to some muggleborns because he could drink it all day.

Remus grinned at the look he got. They knew each other too well to bullshit such things. Oh, they tried, of course. But they never got away with it, either of them. James could pull something off every once in a while but not always. In general they were all in each others' pockets, though Lily and James tended to be more off on their own now that they were dating.

"He doesn't always live under her skirt." Which was loyalty more than anything else. James totally lived up Lily's skirt. "But yeah, he needs to take a break sometime. Eat something else." And spend more time with them, of course.

When Sirena snapped her fingers, he glanced over at her fully expecting to hear some stupid idea. But getting food was actually a good one, which was a nice change. Oh well, the stupidity would probably come later. Give it a minute. "You're gonna rot your teeth out if you drink that all day, every day. Butterbeer for me, Piffy, thank you."

Sirius thought Remus looked way too smug. He didn't hesitate to smack his shoulder, full well knowing Remus was hesitant to strike back considering his own real strength. Not that Sirius cared. He was fully OK with being roughhoused if only because then Remus would know he could take it. He did so as Padfoot all the time.

He didn't immediately respond, more focused on ordering food, but then he turned back to him. "Uh yeah he does. Not that I blame him. Evans is fit and all," he mumbled, shrugging. "But he's clearly a masochist." Sirius was fine never being the attention of her temper, thanks.

Once they ordered their food, the houself nodded and disappeared with a pop. Sirius kept walking till they made it to the portrait and then huffed. "OK..let's try this one more time." He sent a series of spells it's way, physically inspected it, and even tried making the portrait wake up. None worked.
Ll
He looked at Remus. "You try," he insisted.

Rather than hitting him back, Remus just glared at him. It was dangerous to do that kind of shit with him. Something that Sirius fully refused to believe, the ass, but it was still the truth. There was always the chance that he could seriously hurt someone if he hit them, even if he wasn't trying to. Especially if he wasn't trying to. And the last thing any werewolf needed was some kid fucking things up for them. Much less him, himself.

"Well, yeah, James has always been crazy." He was friends with the two of them, after all. Clearly that said everything that needed to be said. Remus could make him sound no more insane without disclosing things that would get them all kicked out of the school for life. And possibly all of Britain as well. They were all nuts, though.

"Just one more?" he asked, giving her a look. Yeah right. She would tell him that at least three more times, he was sure of it. And that was a conservative estimate. He snorted when it was evidently his turn. "Try doing what? Everything you just did?"

"And mucking around with Evans sure aint helping." He liked Lily, don't get him wrong. She just got along better with Remus. Everyone always thought that he and James would get together, probably told stories about their beautiful pureblood babies or something, but there was no way that would ever happen. First off, James was straight and knew about his identity. And second, they were like siblings. A truth or dare kiss aside, they wouldn't ever go near each other like that.

He just rolled his eyes, waving dramatically to the portrait. "I know you've got like a million spells in that big brain of yours that I haven't even learned." He grabbed the map and closed it securely. "Go on then."

Remus had definitely heard the rumours pairing up him and Lily, and James and Sirena. He found it hilarious, just because he'd seen the look on both their faces (and on Lily's) whenever something of the sort came around. While he found Lily a great friend and confidant, he couldn't imagine having a romantic or sexual relationship with her. They were kinda like roommates. Platonic life partners maybe if they lived in a library?

"You would know a lot more of what I do if you ever did your homework," he pointed out. But he sighed and drew his wand anyway, thinking for a second before pointing at the painting. Nothing worked, of course, but at least he could give Sirena a pointed look to make sure she knew that this worked as well as he'd said it would.

"Now can we move on to the Room of Requirement?" Like they should have in the first place, honestly.

"Says you." He didn't do his homework for almost years and he wasn't about to start now. He knew that as long as he passed his tests he would be fine. He was certainly smart enough. Anf it wasn't like he wanted a prestige job. It was all the same to him, as long as it was fun to do.

Sirius watched critically and pouted when nothing new happened. Well, damn. Nothing for it. Not even a quick reveal spell on the map helped. "..Damnit. Fine. Lead the way."
